Strengths
The pitching staff at the top remains genuinely elite. Jose Soriano has been the best pitcher in the league this season — 153 points through five weeks is an extraordinary number — and Tyler Glasnow has looked dominant alongside him. Kevin Gausman adds a legitimate third arm. When these three are rolling, the Ferrets can outscore anyone on the mound. The franchise's 47-37 all-time record is real; this team knows how to compete, and Daniel has shown before that he can right a sinking ship.
Weaknesses
The 2026 season is threatening to fall apart before it starts. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is contributing at a solid but not star level, and the rest of the offense has been largely invisible — Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger are underperforming, Jeremy Pena has barely played, and Dylan Crews is a zero. Josh Hader hasn't thrown a pitch. Matthew Boyd and Luis Castillo have been ineffective.
