Strengths
Aaron Judge is still the anchor, but the Sky Chiefs have quietly built one of the deepest rosters in the league. Brice Turang has been excellent, Kevin McGonigle has made an immediate impact after his call-up, and Chase DeLauter is posting star-level numbers. Sandy Alcantara has looked like an ace, and Mason Miller gives Michael one of the most dominant relievers in the game at the back of the bullpen. This team is deeper than it has ever been, and it's not even fully healthy yet.
Weaknesses
Gerrit Cole has not thrown a pitch in 2026, and his absence is a significant hole at the back of what was supposed to be an elite rotation. The Sky Chiefs also have an inherent volatility risk: when Judge has a down week — or an injury — the margin between a great week and a bad one narrows quickly. Alejandro Kirk has been nearly invisible behind the plate. If this roster underperforms its elite ceiling again in October, the window starts to feel finite.

The Sky Chiefs unveiled their 2026 uniform set this offseason, headlined by a new city connect alternate. The design pays homage to Griffiss Air Force Base — once a key hub and air depot for the Strategic Air Command — drawing on the base's deep ties to the Syracuse area and its legacy in Cold War-era aviation history.
